FLIGHT PLANNING, TOO
Your international airfare isn’t included in the trip price, but you won’t be left to figure it out alone. Morgan will help you find and book the flights that make the most sense for you – including helping you navigate airline miles, credit-card points and transfer partners if you’ve been hoarding points without the slightest idea what to do with them.
Want to arrive a few days early, fly home later, or turn this into an even bigger European adventure? Morgan can help plan and book your pre- or post-trip extension, too.
THE ITINERARY
Thoughtfully planned, not overly planned. There is structure when it matters and freedom when wandering is the whole point.
DAY 1 — ARRIVE IN ZÜRICH Zürich, Switzerland
Arrive at Zürich Airport, where private transportation gets us – and all of our luggage – to the hotel. Settle in, shake off the flight and meet back up for a warm Swiss welcome dinner at Zum Kropf. No decision-making required on night one.
DAY 2 — ZÜRICH AT CHRISTMAS Zürich, Switzerland
A full day to explore Zürich’s Christmas markets, decorated streets and festive corners using local transit. Shop, snack and wander at your own pace, then regroup for a hosted cocktail hour at a warm rooftop venue with views of the city. Continue wandering the market, head to a recommended dinner, or grab a nap. There’s always time for a nightcap later.
DAY 3 — BASEL ON THE WAY TO ALSACE Obernai, France
Our private driver collects us and the luggage for the journey toward France, with a proper stop in Basel to explore its Christmas markets. A casual beer-and-sandwich-or-salad lunch is on Morgan before we continue to Obernai and settle into Alsace.
DAY 4 — STRASBOURG Obernai, France
Take the regional train into Strasbourg for a private 2-3 hour Christmas walking tour built around stories, local traditions, pretty streets and festive discoveries rather than a four-hour lecture on medieval kings. Afterward, everyone is released into the markets for vin chaud and shopping. We reconvene for a beautiful hosted dinner before taking the train home.
THE ITINERARY, CONTINUED
Thoughtfully planned, not overly planned. There is structure when it matters and freedom when wandering is the whole point.
DAY 5 — COLMAR + ALSATIAN WINE Obernai, France
Train to Colmar for one of the trip’s signature days: storybook streets, Christmas markets, two Alsatian wine tastings and a special lunch. Everything is walkable once we’re there, so the afternoon is for wine bars, shops and whatever catches your eye.
DAY 6 — ALSACE, YOUR WAY Obernai, France
A deliberately lighter day for markets, shopping, wandering and revisiting whatever you loved most. Eat when you’re hungry, snack through the markets, and later meet back up somewhere cozy for One More – a drink, dessert or both – and a recap of the day’s adventures. There’s amazing spa amenities to take advantage of at the hotel if you’re ready for a mid-trip relax.
DAY 7 — BADEN-BADEN + GERMAN NIGHT Ettlingen, Germany
Private transportation handles us and the luggage as we cross into Germany, stopping at Baden-Baden for three hours at the Caracalla thermal baths. After spa time, continue to Hotel Erbprinz. Dinner is intentionally unfussy: German beer, sausages and cozy pub food.
DAY 8 — STORYBOOK BLACK FOREST Ettlingen, Germany
Take the regional train into Strasbourg for a private 2-3 hour Christmas walking tour built around stories, local traditions, pretty streets and festive discoveries rather than a four-hour lecture on medieval kings. Afterward, everyone is released into the markets for vin chaud and shopping. We reconvene for a beautiful hosted dinner before taking the train home.
DAY 9 — HOME, OR KEEP GOING Zürich, Switzerland
Private transportation returns the group to Zürich Airport for flights home. Or, if Europe has gotten its claws into you, this is the perfect place to add a few extra days somewhere else – Go With Mo can help arrange an extension.
THE GO WITH MO VERSION OF A GROUP TRIP
Boutique and luxury-ish, not pretentious. Private transfers where they make life easier. European trains where they make sense. Beautiful dinners mixed with beer-and-sausage nights. Enough organized experiences to make the trip special, but enough free time that you never feel like you’re being marched around with a flag.
And the luggage? Someone else deals with it on travel days
YOU TAKE CARE OF DECIDING WHETHER YOU NEED
